BREANNA WILLIAMS
WOODYCREST TEACHERS VILLAGE

Location: Nashville, TN
Designer: Breanna Williams
Design Year: Summer 2019
This Nashville Urban Design studio was tasked with the development of an existing 11 acre county bus depot. This lot was purchased by CORE Development Co. whom wanted to work with the city and the Nashville Civic Design Center to create Nashville's first Teachers Village. The site would be divided into three phases starting with the current bus depot site. I was tasked with development phase one and to work with the existing steel framed depot building. The design was to house a range of tenants in the workforce with a focus on teachers. The 11 acre site appears as an acropolis on the hillside with a 30 ft drop around the perimeter. This acropolis once a parking lot in the sky, is now planned with five outdoor amenity spaces, a community room, a dog park, 5,000 sq. ft. retail, 16,800 sq. ft. tech office space, and 340 residential units. The new life planned for the site is anchored around the large depot center creating hierarchy in the plan and creating flow throughout the site.

The three phase connect and create a continues transition of greenery and spacial hierarchy.

Phase 1 is planned around an existing steel frame depot building. The site is programmed with outdoor amenities, community rooms, retail, office, and residential units.
